Adyen Standalone Terminal mode details

🔍 Here’s Why:

In standalone mode, Adyen terminals (including the V400m, P400 Plus, Castles S1F2, and Android models like AMS1/NYC1) are primarily designed to:

Authorize the transaction on the terminal

• Automatically capture it based on the configuration of the terminal profile and merchant account

However, if the terminal or merchant account is set to manual capture, then:

• The terminal does not provide an option to manually capture the transaction from its UI

• You must complete the capture via:

• The Adyen Customer Area

• An API call (/capture)

• Or rely on a scheduled capture delay if set

This is consistent across all Adyen standalone terminals.

🧷 Important Notes:

Standalone mode = No POS integration. All payment flow decisions (like capture timing) are handled by terminal settings and merchant configuration.

Auto-capture is the default and recommended mode for standalone use, especially for merchants without a back-office system managing transactions.
