What is a chargeback?

A chargeback is a reversal of funds that occurs when a customer disputes a charge on their credit or debit card. The customer contacts their credit card issuer to dispute the charge, and the money is temporarily refunded while an investigation takes place1. Unlike refunds, where the merchant directly returns the money, chargebacks are handled by the credit card issuer or bank.

A Chargeback was received, now what?!

Upon receipt of a chargeback, an automated notification will be dispatched to all users registered on the Valpay portal for the designated store. Upon receipt of said notification, pertinent transaction data and the deadline for responding/disputing the chargeback will be provided. Once all necessary information has been collected to contest the chargeback, it is expected that you will submit your response, along with any accompanying documentation, to the designated chargeback email address: [email protected].### Steps to View Chargeback Details in the Valpay Portal Follow these steps to view detailed information about chargebacks in the Valpay portal:

  1. Log into the Valpay Portal: Access your Valpay merchant account using your credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Transaction Tab: Once logged in, locate and select the Transactions tab.

  3. Use the Quick Filter: In the left-side column, locate the quick filter option. Apply the filter to display only chargebacks. This quick function isolates chargeback-related transactions from the rest of your transactions.

  4. Stay Informed Via Notifications: All users associated with the specific store will receive a notification email when a chargeback occurs. These emails provide timely updates and are essential for prompt action. These processes enable merchants to efficiently monitor and address chargebacks, ensuring minimal disruptions to their day-to-day operations.### Related Topics
