🌐 Network Requirements for Your Terminals (for Your IT Team)

Firewall and network settings your IT team needs so payment terminals can connect: domains to allow, ports, and common blockers.

If your terminals connect through a business network with a firewall or other security filtering, your IT team may need to allow traffic to the payment network. Share this article with whoever manages your network.

Allow Outbound Connections to These Domains

Your firewall must allow outgoing HTTPS traffic from your terminals (and any POS devices that talk to them) to:

  • *.adyen.com

  • *.adyenpayments.com

Allowlist these by domain name, not by IP address. The IP addresses behind them change and aren't published.

Ports

  • TCP 443 (outbound)

  • TCP 8443 (outbound)

Firewalls and security appliances should also allow persistent outbound connections, because terminals keep a connection open to receive payment requests and updates.

Country-Based (GeoIP) Filtering

If your firewall blocks traffic by country, make sure it doesn't block connections to the Netherlands or Germany, where some of the payment network's servers are located.

Other Things That Can Block Terminals

  • SSL/TLS inspection or traffic decryption on the firewall

  • Guest Wi-Fi networks that isolate devices or require a login page

  • Content filters or DNS filtering that block the domains above

Terminal still not connecting? See Troubleshooting "Not Connected", or contact your support team. That's the team that set up your account or the one you normally contact for help.
