You can create more than one login for the same person or team by using plus addressing on your email. Each login is treated as a separate user in the ValPay Portal, so you can keep a clean everyday account alongside separate accounts for testing, demos, and integration checks — all landing in the same inbox.
What Plus Addressing Is
Plus addressing lets you add a label to your email address without setting up a second inbox. You add a plus sign and any word after your username, before the @ sign. Mail still arrives in your normal inbox, but the portal reads each version as a different address.
[email protected]— Your main login[email protected]— A separate testing login[email protected]— A separate demo login
All three deliver to the same inbox. In the portal, each one is a distinct user with its own password and its own role.
When This Is Useful
Integration testing — Integration partners can set up separate logins to confirm different views and permission levels behave correctly, without touching the live everyday account.
Support and showcasing — A support agent can keep a merchant-level login purely for testing and showcasing the merchant experience, kept apart from their admin account.
Staged setup — Trial a new role or configuration on a spare login first, then apply it to the real account once you are happy it works as expected.
How to Set It Up
Open user management. In the portal, go to Settings then User Management.
Add a user. Select Add User in the top right.
Enter the plus addressed email. For example,
[email protected]. Use a label that tells you what the login is for.Choose the role. Assign the role that suits this login. A Regular User is fine for a limited view; choose Brand Admin only if the login needs to manage users or switch the active store.
Send the invite. The invitation arrives in your normal inbox, since all plus addresses deliver there.
Accept and sign in. Open the invite, set a password for that login, and you are ready to sign in as the new user.
💡 A quick tip on labels: Stick to clear labels such as +testing, +demo, or +sandbox. It keeps each login easy to recognise when you come back to it later.
Understanding the Permission Levels
When you add a login, the role you assign decides what that user can see and do. There are three levels, each with more limited access than the one above it.
Brand Admin (Partner level) — The partner-level role. Brand admins can see their entire merchant portfolio, view application pipelines, manage merchant accounts, and create merchant users. They cannot create or edit other brand admin accounts — those must be set up by ValPay Support.
Merchant Admin (Single merchant) — Full access within a single merchant account. Can invite and manage regular users under that merchant, but cannot create or modify other merchant admins.
Regular User (View only) — Also called a Standard User. View-only access within the merchant account. Typically invited by the merchant admin or brand admin.
Showcasing Different Stores
If you are using a merchant-level login to test or showcase different stores, the store it points to is set by a Brand Admin.
⚠️ Switching store is done by the Brand Admin first. To change which store the merchant-level login sees, a Brand Admin needs to switch it from their own account before each showcase. The merchant-level login cannot move between stores on its own.
Good to Know
📧 Most email providers support it. Plus addressing works with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook, and most modern providers. A small number of company or self-hosted mail systems do not. If an invite does not arrive, that is the most likely reason, so let us know and we will find another way.
🔑 Each login has its own password. Every login is a separate account, so it is worth keeping a note of which password belongs to which one.
📥 Everything lands in one inbox. All invites, resets, and notifications for these logins arrive in the same place, so there is nothing extra to monitor.
✅ Give each login only what it needs. A testing or demo login rarely needs full admin rights, so keep the access appropriate to its purpose.
