Quick fixes for the most common terminal hardware problems. If none of these work, contact your support team with your terminal's model and serial number (on the sticker on the back) and a short description of the problem. That's the team that set up your account or the one you normally contact for help.
Terminal Won't Turn On
Charge the terminal for at least 30 minutes.
Try a different power cable or outlet.
Hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it on.
If it still won't turn on, contact your support team about a replacement.
Charger or Power Cable Not Working
Check the charger and the terminal's port for dust, debris or damage, and gently clean them with a soft, dry cloth.
If you have another terminal of the same model, try the charger on it to see whether the problem is the charger or the terminal.
If the charger doesn't work on any terminal, contact your support team for a replacement. Include the terminal model, serial number, the part that isn't working, and a photo if you can.
Battery Not Holding a Charge
Charge for at least 30 minutes before using it.
If your terminal has a removable battery, take it out, check for debris on the connectors, put it back, and turn the terminal on again.
Try a different charger.
Leave the terminal powered on and connected overnight so it can install software updates.
If the battery still won't hold a charge, contact your support team.
Terminal Stuck Restarting
If the terminal was just set up, wait 30 minutes. It may still be downloading its configuration and software.
Unplug it (or remove the battery) for 30 seconds, then reconnect and turn it back on.
If it keeps restarting, contact your support team with the serial number. They can try to push an update to it remotely, or arrange a replacement.
Screen Shows "Tamper" or "Tampered"
Stop using the terminal and contact your support team. A tampered terminal can't be reset and must be replaced. See Terminal Error: Tampered.
