Why Am I Being Charged After I Stopped Using ValPay?

Why fees, refunds or chargebacks can still appear after you stop using ValPay or close your account, and how to check a charge.

Stopping your use of ValPay, or closing your account, doesn't immediately end all activity on it. Charges can still appear afterwards for a few common reasons.

Why You Might Still See Charges

Fees billed after the activity

Fees for payments you processed before stopping may be billed later. If your account uses monthly billing, the last month's fees are collected after that month ends.

Fees that failed earlier

If an earlier fee collection failed, for example because of insufficient funds in your bank account, it stays outstanding and is collected again later. It can look like a new charge even though it's for an older period.

Refunds and chargebacks on older payments

Customers can dispute payments weeks or months later, and you can still be asked to refund older payments. Any refunds, chargebacks and related fees for payments you processed remain your responsibility after you stop.

Account fees until closure is complete

If you stopped processing but didn't formally close your account, recurring account fees (such as monthly or PCI compliance fees) may continue. See How to Cancel Your ValPay Processing Account.

How to Check a Charge

  1. Note the date and amount of the charge on your bank statement.

  2. Log in to the ValPay Portal and check your statements in Statement Manager. You keep access to your statements after you stop processing.

  3. Look for refunds or chargebacks around that date in Payments and Disputes.

  4. Still can't match it? Contact your support team with the date and amount. That's the team that set up your account or the one you normally contact for help.
